Andrew Kramer of Video Copilot created the Element 3D plugin for After Effects. You can use it in any After Effects project and integrate it with any footage. If you watched the series Fringe, Andrew created the location titles with Element 3D.
Andrew Kramer has created dozens of hours of training for After Effects in general and his products in particular.
With Element 3D you can turn text and masks into 3D objects with a multitude of animation options. You can use any textures you have to give your different looks. Complicated bevels and layers are easy to create. Then you can bend and deform your objects. Element 3D can create scenes that rival studio logo openers.

For a logo that has objects. You can use mask shapes in After Effects and extruding them in Element 3D.
You can create also basic objects such as spheres, layers, tubes, cones, capsules or cubes. Element 3D plug-in also comes with some 3D models and Video Copilot offers more for sale in packages. For example, their Jet Strike package has a bunch of highly detailed military and commercial jets.
For custom designs, you can import 3D objects such as OBJ or CD4 files. OBJ is a universal 3D model format whereas CD4 files are from Cinema 4D. —–
